In these uncertain times, I wanted to reach out and let you know what we are doing here at Saskatchewan Mutual Insurance around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
SMI senior management continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 outbreak. We have a Pandemic Plan, the goal of which is to protect employees, customers, facilities, systems, property and operations during any pandemic, and to maintain normal operations, to the extent possible, consistent with this goal.
While the virus poses minimal risk to the vast majority, the following precautionary measures are being undertaken to minimize the risk of exposure in our offices:
- SMI firmly believes the best defense against pandemics is practicing healthy hygiene and lifestyles, and awareness education about what a pandemic is and the potential risks involved. Increased hygiene protocols have been implemented as well as increased communication to staff to provide education and awareness of the COVID-19 situation.
- Quarantine protocols for staff who might know they have been exposed.
- Corporate travel by air has been banned until further notice.
The health and well being of our employees remains our top priority, and we will continue to adjust our precautionary measures as required.
We continue to welcome visitors to our offices but ask that you do not visit our offices if you are displaying flu-like symptoms – including cough, fever or shortness of breath. In addition, we request that if you have traveled to COVID-19 affected areas with active travel health notices, been in contact with a person who has traveled to these affected countries, or have been exposed to the coronavirus that you not attend our offices.
We would be pleased to assist you either by email or over the phone.
While this is a break from our normal practices, we thank you for your understanding as we do what we can to minimize any exposure to our staff.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
