SMI is looking for a permanent, full-time Underwriter III to join our growing team. Reporting to the Underwriting Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, rating and processing new business, renewals and revisions for risks complex in nature.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of four (4) years related insurance experience, completion of at least eight (8) Insurance Institute Courses along with a positive commitment towards the completion of the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation, demonstrated by completing two Institute courses per year. The individual must have knowledge of policy rating and underwriting practices, excellent communication skills as well as the ability to lead, motivate and train other employees and act as a role model who supports a positive organizational culture. The ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and to deliver quality service are also essential skills required for this position.

This unionized position offers an annual salary range of $56,449 – $70,175, a comprehensive benefits package, a fun and inclusive work environment, professional development opportunities and the potential for further advancement within the company.

SMI is looking for a permanent, full-time Claims Adjuster to join our growing team at our Head Office in Saskatoon. Reporting to the Manager, Claims & Administration, the successful candidate will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling Personal Lines, Auto, Farm, Commercial, Liability and Injury claims. Experience in and knowledge of insurance principles and practices is necessary for this position.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the industry and an active involvement in completion of the CIP designation. This position requires an individual with an outgoing personality, strong interpersonal skills, good written and oral communication, as well as strong interviewing and negotiation skills.

The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate marketing or business degree (or equivalent). Additionally, the incumbent should have at least 7 years of experience in a similar role (insurance experience would be considered an asset), including at least 3 years of progressive leadership experience.

SMI is looking for a permanent, full-time Junior Accountant to join our growing team. Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of moderately complex accounting tasks by working with the accounting team to manage accounts receivables, accounts payable, month-end reporting and reconciliation, broker statements, as well as responding to telephone inquiries. They will also assist with special accounting projects as required. This position is located at our Head Office in downtown Saskatoon.

The successful candidate will have completed a one-year business accountancy speciality diploma through a company approved institution or completion of 60 credits toward a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in accounting. They must also have one year of experience in the insurance industry or accounting field. The candidate must have excellent communication skills, effective keyboarding skills, the ability to perform detailed work accurately as well as the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships
